The quickest route into the region is by air, leaving from Kathmandu on a twenty-five minute flight into the city of Pokhara. People have been visiting the Annapurna region since the 1960’s and this picturesque mountains region has grown extensively over the past 50 years. On the third day you will start the journey into the Annapurna region and be away from all the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu and the trekking begins. You will be sampling the wonderful hospitality as we move from village to village on route to Annapurna base camp. Day 1

Fly to Kathmandu,  Some people may choose to fly in a day early to have an extra day in Kathmandu enjoying this fast paced city and help after the earthquake. You should aim to arrive on the afternoon. There are plenty of sights to visit and explore and you can pick up any last minute items on the streets of the Thamel district. Two nights’ accommodation in Kathmandu is included in the cost of the trip. One night before and one night after the trek.

Day 2

Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara (approximately a 25 min flight) After having breakfast in the morning today, we will head back to the airport and take the short 25 minute flight to Pokhara.  On arrival in Pokhara, you can enjoy the quiet and slower paced city and lakeside area.  Pokhara sits at 850m/2,788ft above sea level and we will stay the night in a hotel in the city.

Day 3

Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedhunga 1,577m/ 5,173ft. – 3 Hours Hiking Today. Today the actual trekking begins!  We will wake early for breakfast and then drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, which takes about 1 hour.  From Nayapul, we will start walking with a short walk along the banks of Modi Khola, which will bring us to Birethanti 1,015m/3,330ft.  From Birethanti our trail continues through the village and climbs continuously up to Hille and then eventually to Tikhedhunga (1,577m/ 5,173ft), where we will stay overnight at a lodge.  Today the total amount of time trekking is approximately 3 hours.

Day 4

Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani 2840m/ 9,317ft. – 5 Hours. Today we will trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani at 2,840m/ 9,317ft, which will be approximately a five hour trek.  We leave Tikhedhunga, continue the steep climb to Ulleri 2,070m/ 6,791ft, which is a large Magar village. Our trail ascends more gently from this point through fine forests of oak and rhododendrons towards Banthanti 2,250m/ 7,381ft. After walking for a couple of hours, we arrive at Ghorepani 2,840m/ 9,350ft, where we stay overnight.

Day 5

Hike up to Poon Hill 3,210m/ 10,531ft. and trek to Tadapani 2,610m/ 8,562ft. – 4 Hours. Today, we will be up early in the morning and start an hour’s hike to Poon Hill (3,210m/ 10,531ft), which is one of the best viewpoints in the Annapurna Region. Poon Hill offers the best opportunity to witness the stunning panorama of the beautiful peaks including Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. You can enjoy amazing views of sunrise over the stunning snow-capped mountains.  After spending about an hour at Poon Hill, we return back to Ghorepani to have breakfast.  After breakfast, we continue climbing along the ridges through the forest of pines and rhododendron. The climb brings us to Deurali at 2,960m/ 9,711ft, and we then descend to Tadapani 2610m/ 8,562ft to sleep for the night.

Day 6

Trek from Tadapani to Chhomrung 2140m/ 7,020ft. – 5 Hours. We start our steep downhill walk today through the forests of rhododendrons. Leaving Tadapani and descending through the forests, we will reach the Gurung village of Gurjung as the trail eases. After Gurjung, we eventually walk to Chhomrung which is at the elevation of 2,140m/7,020ft, where we stay overnight at a lodge.  The hike today is approximately 5 hours.

Day 7

Trek from Chhomrung to Dovan 2,500m/ 8,202ft. – 5½ Hours. Today we will trek from Chhomrung to Dovan 2,500m/ 8,202ft, which will take approximately 5½ hours.  The trail drops down to the Chhomrung Khola today and again we climb to Khuldighar .We leave the forest and then continue steeply downhill  to the village of  Dovan, where we stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 8

Trek from Dovan to Deurali 3,230m/ 10,597 ft. – 4 Hours. Trek from Dovan to Deurali, which sits at 3,230m/ 10,597 ft. Today is a shorter day with only about 4 hours of walking.  We start by climbing through bamboo forest and then through the forest of rhododendron on to Hinku Cave. We stay overnight at a lodge in Deurali.

Day 9

Trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp 4,131m/ 13,553ft. – 5 Hours. Today, the approximately 5 hour day of trekking will bring us to Annapurna Base Camp at 4,131m/ 13,553ft.  We will leave Deurali and walk to Machhapuchhre Base Camp also known as the Annapurna Sanctuary, as the area is surrounded by mountains, before we trek for a further two hours to reach Annaupurna Base Camp at the elevation of 4,131m/ 13,553ft. From Annapurna Base Camp, the views of the mountain are stunning, we will stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 10

Trek from Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) to Bamboo 2,345m/ 7,693m – 6 Hours. Trek from Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) to Bamboo 2,345m/ 7,693m. Today will be a longer day as we will hike for 6 hours as we retrace our steps to Bamboo. The trail drops 1,700m/ 5,577ft, to the bank of Modi Khola to Bamboo at 2345m/ 7,693ft.  We stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 11

Trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda 1,780m/ 5,839ft. – 5 Hours. Trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda 1,780m/ 5,839ft, which will take approximately 5 hours.  We continue to retrace our steps through the rhododendron and bamboo forest, where the trail descends very steeply from Chhomrung to Jhinu Hot Springs. You can relax in the natural hot springs at Jhinu, where we stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 12

Trek from Jhinu Danda to Nayapul – 5 Hours, and drive back to Pokhara – 1 Hour. Today is our final day of trekking where we will walk all the way back to Nayapul, which will take approximately 5 hours, walking on the right side of the Modi Khola, which is one of the most relaxing walks of the entire trip.  From Nayapul, we will get in to the car and take the hour drive back to Pokhara, where we will stay overnight in the hotel.

Day 13

Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu. Today we will wake and have breakfast in the hotel before returning to the airport and taking the short 25 minute flight back to Kathmandu.  You will have free time in Kathmandu before meeting for a farewell dinner together with the trekking team and spend overnight at the hotel.

Day 14

Final Departure. We will transfer you to the airport for your return flight home or onward journey.
