Goli village support trek

After the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal in April 2015 we starting running the Goli village support trek.  People from around the World have reached out to us and want to help the local people. Now you can.  Most of our local Sherpa staff come from the village of Goli, which is located 109km/68mi east of Kathmandu. The village of Goli has 456 homes spread across spectacular valleys, and many of the homes are badly damaged or have completely collapsed.  We are working to help rebuild this beautiful village that is the home to so many of our co-workers and friends, and now you can join us to visit the village and experience the hospitality this amazing village offers. Goli village sits below Pikey peak, at 4,065m/ 13,335ft, and has some of the World’s best mountain views, which are not to be missed. You can see Kanchenjunga in eastern Nepal right across to Makalu, Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu and all the way to the Annapurna range west of Kathmandu.  Join us hiking to the summit of Pikey Peak as well as help the local people rebuild their beautiful village.  We will donate 20% of the cost of the trip directly to the village, and we encourage each client to raise a minimum of $1,000 to bring with them to Kathmandu in support of the village. OUR FIRST SCHOOL PROJECT IS COMPLETE!

A little bit more about this Goli village support trek

The Goli village support trek begins in Kathmandu and slowly ventures into this less trodden area of Nepal, the lower Solu Khumbu region. You will be able to see a Sherpa community away from the main trekking routes and therefore much less traveled and Westernized. It is a beautiful area, with stunning views, rural life, clean air and a peaceful atmosphere.  This is a unique opportunity to help a village very few people would ever go to and support them in their journey to recovery after the earthquake. Contact us and find out about this unique opportunity to help in a remote part of Nepal. They need you and your financial support.

Goli village support trek

We follow the road east and make the two day hike up to the village, where you will have your own personal kit along with equipment and supplies for the village. There will be a range of ways to help in the village, and bringing the money you have raised with you directly to Nepal will ensure 100% of those funds will be used in the village. We want to make sure funds raised are used effective and wisely in support of the people. The cost of the trek is $2,300.

Goli village support trek

Our approach to Nepal has to be one of sustained and sustainable development. The village of Goli is so remote and quite challenging to get materials too. So we have to take a long term approach to slowly helping them over time. We also need to help them in a way they want. We have unique and direct access to the village. Our head Sherpa, Dawa Chirri Sherpa is an elder from the village, and will work closely with the village on what they need which is a key link between us and real change on the ground in Nepal.
