Everest Base Camp April 2015

Jason and I absolutely loved the trip and really enjoyed your company, we had fun, felt comfortable and safe with your leadership and want to thank you so much for that. And it was great having Ronan there too. You both were so easy to talk to. We would be happy to write a blog about our trip.

Everest Base Camp April 2015

Let me share my experience about Ian Taylor Trekking and the Everest Base Camp. In 1 word it’s just WONDERFUL. I have never gone for a trekking trip in my life. And this one was my first Trek. For me, it was really challenging trip, as I am fresher in this. But Due to the Intense support of Ian and his team( Ang Kami, little Dawa, and other sherpa’s too) I was able to overcome the challenge. The service wise it’s so good, we were having a superb luxury food, and after the trek, we had a great room waiting for us to sleep and to get freshen up for the next day. I had a great time with everyone. The best thing which I found in Ian Taylor Trekking, is that, they provide you more than you expect. And I think, due to this reason they are just outstanding. Ian is a great guy, He and his group will surely help you and guide you with all the matters, starting from the what all you should carry to how can you enjoy the trip. I had a wonderful time and I learnt lots of new things. And its all because of Ian and his team. Thanks a lot Ian and his team, and not but the least, I would love to thank whole my dear friends with whom I had a wonderful time.”

Everest Base Camp Trek March 2019

I joined the EBC March 23-April 5 2019 EBC trek two months ago. First and foremost, since the point when I began researching this trek and potential trekking outfits, both Laura and Ian were very accessible and addressed all of my questions and concerns. Laura and Ian's information–both written and on video–on how to prepare for the trek in terms of physical conditioning and equipment were extremely helpful. Dawa Sherpa and Kay were our contacts and emissaries in Kathmandu, and greeted us for orientation upon arrival as well as treated us to a swell dinner and awards following the trek. Our lead guide, Culden Sherpa, was key in my completing the trek. He taught me and my roommate Chris, the slowest members of the group, a lot about trekking, as well as the topography and culture of the area we trekked in, and was extremely attentive to all of our needs. Both Culden Sherpa and assistant guides Angili and Origin stayed with Chris and myself on the trail despite our slower pace than the rest of the group. The lodging Ian Taylor and Laura arranged along the trek surpassed my expectations; showers were available in every lodge in which we stayed, and the food selection at both the lodges and tea shops we ate in was very good. Culden Sherpa made sure we had adequate rest stops along the way plus breaks for tea at tea shops. I injured my ankle (sprain with torn ligaments) the day after reaching Base Camp,. Culden Sherpa, in conjunction with Ian Taylor and Dawa Sherpa, was able to arrange a medevac helicopter for me the next day from Pheriche to Lukla. I will be eternally grateful to them and Global Rescue, with whom I had a medevac insurance policy, for helping me reach safety with no delay and without further injury. In every respect, Ian Taylor Trekking and their staff provided a top-notch trekking experience, and I highly recommend their outfit.

Everest Base Camp Trek March 2019

Not quite sure where to start with this note- other than a massive thank you for everything you and you’re team have done for me over the past few weeks. You both have created something very special. The team you have built in Nepal, be that the Sherpa’s or the organisational team in Kathmandu, are so committed, so caring and so special. Pasang, Pasang ( “Ninja “), Tendi, Kay and of course the wonderful Dawa, were all to a person, simply fantastic. My only hope is that as you continue down your path of figuring out how to understandably reconcile a rapidly expanding global business with personal lifestyle desires, you recognize the wonderful and really meaningful contribution you’ve both made to the Nepalese people. I’m sure you do, but sometimes it’s good for someone to reiterate it. I was thinking about it a great deal on my walk. You both should be incredibly proud when you get that rare chance to have a glass of wine together of an evening. Thanks again ( which seems rather weak in light of the last two weeks !) I really hope I will be back in contact to book another trip sooner rather than later.

Island Peak Climb 2019

Firstly, you should know that it was you who really made this trip for us. Your down to earth personality and perfect movie references made it feel like we were travelling with one of our best mates. I hope that makes you feel 26 again. But for us that is what you became, a great mate. You made us both feel safe and assured the whole time and we enjoyed so many great laughs along the way. We have both missed you since returning to Australia and I have contemplated many times jumping on a plane to Denver.
Thank you also for our little engagement gift we received when we got to Kathmandu and for all your help with plotting the right moment with me. After a few failed attempts we still managed to work out a great spot to pop the question! This trip will stay with me for the rest of my life for so many reasons.  You lead us on an expedition that for me is beyond words and I just wanted to send you something to let you know that it means a great deal to me.

Sleeping at Everest Base Camp 2019

Enjoyed the last Sleeping at Everest Base Camp for the spring. Had great guides, great food and great Tea Houses to eat at and sleep in. The guides were very friendly and fantastic on their leadership and were always there to help us. This was my first trip to this area of the world and with the Ian Taylor Trekking Company. I would definitely recommend them for all their trips. Great job to all involved (home office in the US, office staff in Kathmandu, guides, and porters). When I had questions about the trip Ian or Laura would always get back to me pretty quickly (even when they were over in Nepal). Only regret was I did not get a chance to thank them (Ian and Laura) in person. Good luck Ian on your climb next year.

Everest Base Camp Trek September 2019

I had an amazing time, shame about the weather though, apparently it is the worst they have had for September. There were a couple of times I was about to give up but I was determined to get there.  Also, loved going onto the glacier. That was a highlight of the trip, along with the card games, food (was amazing), dancing and singing.

Amazing group of trekkers and the Sherpa boys were amazing also.  I started missing the ones that stayed in Lukla the day we got back to Kathmandu.  One of them called me “Maam”, so I said don’t call me maam so then he called me “Janelly” or “Mum”.  They were great. Could not fault them on the way they went out of their way to help us with anything we needed, and they were always checking up if we were ok. Thanks again, would love to do it all again if I could program the weather to be perfect.

Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Lakes

On behalf of myself, Daniel and Bradley (and I’m sure Jill as well) can we say how impressed we were with all aspects of our trek to EBC via Gokyo and everyone associated with Ian Taylor Trekking. From our arrival in Kathmandu to our departure we could not have been happier with how smoothly all the arrangements went. Our transport guide on the ground (and I’m sorry I cannot remember his name – but what a truly wonderful person) and Kay and Dawa could not do enough for us. They made us feel very welcome and relaxed during our time in Kathmandu and were very informative and friendly. And of course it all started with yours and Ian’s prompt, regular and informative emails that convinced me that we were in very safe and professional hands. Our head guide, Ngima, and his assistant, Dambar, were amazing. Through their professionalism and thoroughness we all had absolutely no issues/problems at all throughout the trek. On a couple of occasions we requested some changes to our schedule and after careful consideration these changes were made – nothing was too difficult. We felt so privileged to have Ngima as our head guide. His knowledge and experience is priceless. We would not hesitate to request him again if we get a chance to get back to Nepal – which I’m sure my sons will. Our porters – Tilak and Buddha were awesome. I’m so in awe of them. Their physical and mental strength is second to none. We would have no hesitation is recommending Ian Taylor Trekking to any/all of our friends and colleagues. We found our whole experience – from booking our trek, the dossier, the information videos, constant updates and communications through to arriving/departing Kathmandu, the trek itself including the lodges and food along the way – to be extremely professionally run and one that we will never forget. And in a large part this was made possible due to everything being taken care of expertly by Ian Taylor Trekking and your staff. We all thoroughly enjoyed and loved our trek. The whole experience of the Nepalese and Sherpa cultures, the awesome Himalayan mountains and country was SO special. A ‘thank you’ again to everyone involved and also please say ‘hello’ to Dawa, Kay, Ngima, Dambar, Tilak, Buddha and all your other staff in Kathmandu.
