Kilimanjaro 2014

I can’t say enough for the quality and comfort of my last Kilimanjaro climb with Ian. Having climbed Kilimanjaro once before I felt like I knew what to expect but I was wrong. From the first email to the summit and back I felt like I was Ian’s priority. His guides and staff felt more like family than anything and made me feel more than comfortable. Hands down I will continue to explore the world with Ian Taylor Trekking and do my best to guide others to his expert service. Thank you Ian.

Mount Kenya Climb

"I am a big fan of Ian Taylor Trekking. I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with them in 2012. It was unforgettable journey to the roof of Africa. I was really keen to head back to Africa and when I realized the same team would be working with me on Mount Kenya I was in. We once again had an amazing time. It was even better as I was more relaxed with people I knew and trusted. The only team for me."

Mount Kenya Climb 2018

We are just back from climbing Mount Kenya. We picked Ian Taylor Trekking for the 6 day itinerary. Other itineraries were 4 and 5 days and we wanted more time to relax, enjoy the experience and mountain. It was so worth it. The team were amazing, food was top notch and we all reached the summit. Ian Taylor Trekking had more staff, better organised and prepared than other teams and run a great show. We enjoyed every moment of the trip and we will be back to climb Kilimanjaro in 2020."

Recently, I summited Kilimanjaro as a 70-year-old man. I do not attribute this to some special prowess on my part. In truth, this achievement must be attributed to the trekking group. I employed Ian Taylor Trekking in both Tanzania and Nepal. Ian is an experienced, professional mountaineer who has scaled 6 of the 7 great peaks, including Everest. His knowledge base is exceptional, and this was the reason a superannuated, semi-ambulatory grandfather such as myself was able to venture above 19,000 feet. The real benefit to using Ian lies in the instruction we all received—-everything from acclimation methods, nutrition, and breathing techniques to psychological/emotional preparedness. Moreover, Ian is a delightfully modest and unpretentious spirit whose wry sense of humor always managed to foster the proper mood, no matter what the situation. In short, this septuagenarian has a bit of advice for anyone thinking of attempting one of these “adventures.” If you are planning a quest in one of the many venues where Ian Taylor Trekking operates and you fail to retain his services, I respectfully submit you need to reconsider your decision immediately.

Climbing Kilimanjaro July 2019

I arrived back last week from my journey to Climb Kilimanjaro with Ian Taylor Trekking. I have to say; the whole experience far surpassed my and my wife’s expectations for his journey. We knew we picked the right itinerary as we had experienced altitude sickness in the past. The team were world class. We had 43 staff supporting our 10-person group. We had 6 guides which I did not expect. From Athumani, Kilimanjaro’s number 1 guide to Emmanuel and Max, we were well looked after. I really want to thank Amani, he was the hardest working guy on the mountain. The food was fresh, and we have two drops of fresh food, chef Ede and crew did a phenomenal job for us. The large sleeping tents, dome tents and comfortable seats really made the difference for us. The element that set’s this company apart for me was the level of information about how to prepare. We saw so many people struggle on the mountain but our whole team made it to the summit. From chats and conversations everyone had really listened too and implemented the advice the team gave on training and preparation for the climb. I had seen Ian speak in Colorado a few years back and was really impressed with his attitude to altitude, acclimatization and physical preparation so I knew we were in good hands. A massive thank you to Ian and team for supporting our Kilimanjaro summit success. We have trekked all around the world and this trip was by far the best we have ever been on.

5 stars and 2 thumbs up are an understatement for the service and knowledge that Ian Taylor Trekking provided during my recent Kilimanjaro climb led by Ian. From the initial phone calls and emails to standing on the summit of Kilimanjaro, Ian led a group of 14 people, with the majority of us not knowing anyone to start the climb to a well-oiled team achieving success on the Lemosho route several days later. Ian has established a support team second to none led by the “Guide of the Year”, a chef that even made a birthday cake at 16,000 feet for a team member celebrating a birthday, to the porters that had our tents set up when we entered each camp to clean water waiting for us. Ian’s training and packing video’s are realistic and provide the necessary information for greater success. Safety is incorporated into daily life on the mountain from heart rate and Oxygen monitoring to hydration reinforcement, which is critical to success. No other way to go if you want success on the mountain than Ian Taylor Trekking !!!!!!!

What am amazing experience of a lifetime! From being collected at the airport, through to being returned to the airport I was treated like part of the family by Ian Taylor and his staff. Every day we were informed of our planned route and what to expect from his NO 1 guide Athumani. You honestly couldn't meet a more humble guy in your life. We were treated life kings as far as the menu was concerned . most people even mentioned eating better on the trip than at home. From breakfast, lunch and dinner it was first class all the way. The support and encouragement from the porters was exceptional, they went above and beyond to make the trip as easy as possible. Safety was always the number 1 priority therefore acclimatization was key to our success on the trip. Having shorter followed by longer days helped to build up our system and prepare us for summit night. The group were fun, friendly, inclusive, good spirited humans. lots of stories and histories from different individuals that contributed greatly to highlight this superb experience and create great memories. As for Ian Taylor himself, a true gentleman, humble and the most down to earth guy I have ever met. It was a true pleasure being in the company of Ian the entire trip! His knowledge and experience are second to none and therefore arriving fully prepared both physically and mentally was testament to the professional service he provides. I couldn't recommend Ian Taylor highly enough!

Jambo!!
I will say you all undersold the trip and experience!! Justin and his team took great care of us and we had a blast climbing with them. Idi is a true gastric engineer and I actually think we gained weight on this trip, plus we all loved his soups so much we asked him to develop a recipe book and he did!  From the coffee or tea brought to our tents each morning, the smiles and warm greetings from all the porters and guides each day, to the awesome camaraderie and great food, this trip was a great adventure! You have a first class operation and we will definitely be reaching out for future trips!

I wanted to reach out and thank you for the incredible trip that your company provided to myself, Patrick, and Blake. We had a fantastic time with the entire team led by Athumani. The group, from guides to porters to cooks, were all so enjoyable to be around and work with to get to the summit!  Truly an incredible experience - I will be in touch regarding future trips (thinking Elbrus next year).
