It is a great feeling to stand on top of Kilimanjaro, the highest free standing mountain in the world. However, in order to be successful, you need to right people behind you. Check out our TOP 50 TIPS for climbing Kilimanjaro, then get in touch. All our office staff have climbed Kilimanjaro many times and available to help you in your journey to the Roof of Africa.

What is the Summit Success Rate

Any any given year, only around 50% of people make it to the summit. In other sources you will read 65% of people make it to the top, this varies from year to year. Our 8 day climbs give you a 95% chance at success.

There are two main reason that people are not making the summit. Firstly, they re not making it because they do not have enough days on the mountain to acclimatize. You need 8 days on the mountain to give yourself the best chance at success. Any less and you are taking a gamble with all the time spent training and paying for the trip. Yes it costs more for every additional day spent on the mountain.  However, it is worth it to pay a bit more if you give yourself the best chance at success.

Secondly, only 50% of people are making it to the summit of Kilimanjaro because a lot of people are not coming with the right training and physical conditioning needed for the Climb. You need to be training with a weighted backpack and getting the right conditioning into your muscles. So you need to be training 5/6 times a week for months before the trip.   Also, you have to get in longer sessions in the gym or out on your local hills. This will make a big difference in your enjoyment, ability to adapt to the low levels of oxygen and and overall experience a whole lot more.
