1). Tanzanite Experience
Tanzanite is the very special stone mined only in Tanzania. Near Arusha, there are many shops selling this stone in Arusha, also there is Tanzanite
museum where you can find the origin of the stone.
2). Coffee Plantation Tour
Arusha is a region located on base of Mount Meru and has fertile soil where coffee grows. We have great reviews from our coffee plantation tours and you can see how they process coffee from the plant to the end product. While doing a tour you will also get to see banana plantations, you will experience the life of local people.
3). Maasai Market
This is a good place for souvenirs or gift for friends and family. There are a lot of stalls selling the same products but the the people are friendly and don’t hassle you too much. It is an interesting to walk around and observe the local product and very close to the down town area.
4). Arusha National Park
This is a park which is located close to Arusha. The National park is about 27 km away, you will be able to do a game drive and see a lot of wild animals like Elephants, Buffalo’s, Giraffe, Zebras, Antelopes and Monkeys.
5). Village Tours
If you are interested in the local life of the people, visiting a local village and community could be for you. Visiting local communities like Maasai Boma
which are around Arusha and learning their culture and life styles. You can reach these
villages by bike riding or driving. The villages that can be explored are Llkurot, Longido and Mkuru people.
6). National Natural History Museum
This is a good place to visit for many of the oldest fossils found in Tanzania. It is also a good place to learn more about the history of Arusha. The museum is an old German compound and has three parts. The best is the wing dedicated to human evolution, since much of what we know about the topic came from fossils unearthed in Tanzania. There are also displays on insects, the history of Arusha during the German colonial era, and wildlife photos and mounts.
Fortune Kids and Education Foundation Orphanage Center was established in 2016. All the children are less than five years old. It is located under the slope of mount Meru in the Arusha region Meru District, Nshupu Village which Is 25km from Kilimanjaro International Airport near the USA river Leganga (Dar es salaam Arusha Road) 3 km from Leganga to the center via DikDik , Ngarasero road.
The purposes of the Fortune Kids and Education Foundation Orphanage Center is to give back happiness and hope for these children who have lost it, and it is our goal to help ensure they have a good education and a bright future. The center deals with children from harsh environments, including poor and single parented children, or orphans who cannot meet the basic needs of life, such as food, shelter and clothing.
8). Arusha Declaration Museum
This is small museum in the heart of Arusha. It is full of pictures and you will be able to see a few artifacts from the region. It showcases the 1967 declaration by then-president Julius Nyerere calling for African self-reliance. You’d have to be pretty bored to come to this little museum. Half the space is filled with photos of government officials. It improves slightly after that, with some photos from the colonial era and a handful of ethnographic artifacts.
