This is a remote destination in Western Nepal, with its unspoiled lands and bright culture, it makes for an amazing trekking destination. Dolpo is protected by the Shey-Phoksundo National Park, and has a well preserved eco system of plants and wildlife, including the Himalayan Blue Sheep, Snow Leopards and the huge Himalayan Griffon. The locals are mostly involved in the salt trade and have close links with Tibet, as it is difficult for crops to grow here. This traditional clture has passed from generation to generation. This is the area where the film -Caravan’ by Eric Valli was filmed. This is a camping trek, and would be recommended for the extremely fit and adventurous trekker.
