A little bit more about the trek

The quickest route into the region is by air, leaving from Kathmandu on a twenty-five minute flight into the city of Pokhara. People have been visiting the Annapurna region since the 1960’s and this picturesque mountains region has grown extensively over the past 50 years. The Annapurna base camp trek has  wide range of animal and bird species as well as world famous mountains that people come from all around the world to see. You will receive a warm welcoming into the villages as you move up the valley towards Annapurna base camp. Recent statistics and research show that an extra day acclimatization will give you the best chance at making a safe journey into low oxygen environment and reaching your goal of reaching Annapurna Base Camp.

On the third day you will start the journey into the Annapurna region and be away from all the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu and the trekking begins. You will be sampling the wonderful hospitality as we move from village to village on route to Annapurna base camp.  While you are in the Annapurna region why not consider climbing a 6,000m peak.  Price start from $2,400.

Day 1

Fly to Kathmandu,  Some people may choose to fly in a day early to have an extra day in Kathmandu enjoying this fast paced city and help after the earthquake. You should aim to arrive on the afternoon. There are plenty of sights to visit and explore and you can pick up any last minute items on the streets of the Thamel district. You can also pick up any last minute items. Two nights accommodation in Kathmandu is included in the cost of the trip. One night before and one night afterwards.

Day 2

Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (Around 7/8 hours) After having breakfast in the morning today, we drive to Pokhara. It takes around 7 hours to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu by bus. There is also the option of a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara which takes about 25 minutes. You can cruise around and explore Pokhara city 850m/ 2,788ft. and Lakeside. We stay overnight at a hotel in Pokhara.

Day 3

Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedhunga 1,577m/ 5,173ft. – 3 Hours Today. We are going to begin our actual trek from Nayapul. So, we take a short drive to Nayapul from Pokhara which takes about an hour. From Nayapul, we take a short walk along the banks of Modi Khola, which brings us to Birethanti 1015m/ 3,330ft. From there, our trail continues through the village and climbs continuously up to Hille 1495m/ 4,904ft. We eventually reach Tikhedhunga 1,577m/ 5,173ft. where we stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 4

Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani 2840m/ 9,317ft. – 5 Hours. Today we leave Tikhedhunga, continue the steep climb to Ulleri 2,070m/ 6,791ft. Ulleri is a large Magar village. Our trail ascends more gently from this point through fine forests of oak and rhododendrons towards Banthanti 2,250m/ 7,381ft. After walking for a couple of hours, we arrive at Ghorepani 2,840m/ 9,350ft. where we stay overnight.

Day 5

Hike up to Poon Hill 3,210m/ 10,531ft. and trek to Tadapani 2,610m/ 8,562ft. – 4 Hours. You will be up early in the morning.  We start an hour’s hike to Poon Hill 3,210m/ 10,531ft. which is one of the best viewpoints in the Annapurna Region. Poon Hill offers the best opportunity to witness the phenomenal panorama of the beautiful peaks including Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. You can enjoy amazing views of sunrise over stunning snow capped mountains. Poon Hill also offers the best views of sunset too. After spending about an hour at Poon Hill, we return back to Ghorepani. After breakfast in Ghorepani we continue climbing along the ridges through the forest of pines and rhododendron. The climb brings us to Deurali 2,960m/ 9,711ft. we then descend to Tadapani 2610m/ 8,562ft.

Day 6

Trek from Tadapani to Chhomrung 2140m/ 7,020ft. – 5 Hours We start our steep downhill walk today through the forests of rhododendrons. Leaving Tadapani and descending through the forests, we reach the Gurung village of Gurjung as the trail eases. After Gurjung, we eventually walk to Chhomrung which at the elevation of 2,140m/7,020ft.  We stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 7

Trek from Chhomrung to Dovan 2,500m/ 8,202ft. – 5½ Hours The trail drops down to the Chhomrung Khola today and again we climb to Khuldighar .We leave the forest and then continue steeply downhill  to the village of  Dovan. We stay overnight at a lodge

Day 8

Trek from Dovan to Deurali 3,230m/ 10,597 ft. – 4 Hours This is short day today. We start by climbing through bamboo forest and then through the forest of rhododendron on to Hinku Cave. We stay overnight at a lodge in Deurali.

Day 9

Trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp 4,131m/ 13,553ft. – 5 Hours  We leave Deurali and walk to Machhapuchhre Base Camp also known as Annapurna Sanctuary as the area is surrounded by mountains, we trek for a further two hours to reach Annaupurna Base Camp at the elevation of 4,131m/ 13,553ft. From Annapurna Base Camp, from here the views of the mountain are stunning. We stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 10

Trek from Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) to Bamboo 2,345m/ 7,693m – 6 Hours Today, we retrace our steps to Bamboo. The trail drops 1,700m/ 5,577ft. to the bank of Modi Khola to Bamboo at 2345m/ 7,693ft.  We stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 11

Trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda 1,780m/ 5,839ft. – 5 Hours We continue to retrace our steps until Khuldighar, onto Bamboo, through rhododendron and bamboo forest.  The trail descends very steeply from Chhomrung to Jhinu Hot Spring. You can relax in the the natural hot springs at Jhinu. We stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 12

Trek from Jhinu Danda to Nayapul – 5 Hours, and drive back to Pokhara – 1 Hour We walk on the right side of the Modi Khola for about 5 hours to Birethanti which is one of the best and the most relaxing walks of the entire Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Upon reaching Nayapul, we take a drive back to Pokhara where we stay overnight at a hotel.

Day 13

Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu We drive back to Kathmandu (7 hours) or fly 25 minutes from Pokhara today. Free time in Kathmandu before meeting for a farewell dinner together with the trekking team and spend overnight at the hotel.

Day 14

Final Departure: We will transfer you to the airport for your return flight.
